Bandits kill 2, injure village head’s son in Kaduna

Security agencies have reported that an accidental detonation of a substance at a residence in Ungwan Mangworo, Igabi LGA of Kaduna State, has injured seven children.
Daily Trust gathered that the children who were playing in the area picked up the material from a nearby farm and was detonated accidentally as they continued to play with it near their home.
Samuel Aruwan, Commissioner for Internal Security and Homes Affairs, who disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday, said the seven children injured by the explosion are now receiving treatment at the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Shika. He expressed the alarm at the incident, adding that Governor Nasir ElRufai
voiced his relief that the injured children were receiving treatment.
He tasked security agencies to conduct a detailed investigation into the incident and urged citizens to increase their vigilance towards the presence of such items around inhabited locations.
He added that security agencies had been duly informed of the incident for thorough investigations to forestall future occurrences.
In another incident, he said armed bandits barricaded the road from Sabon Birni to Rikau, Igabi LGA and killed one Ibrahim Abdulmumin, a resident of Rikau village, while One Sahabi Shafiu, son of the village head of Rikau, was also injured.
He said both victims were returning from the weekly market at Sabon Birni when they were intercepted by the bandits.
Also, he said armed bandits attacked Akwando village in Kachia LGA and killed one Elder Dikko Bagudu, a resident of the community.
Aruwan said Governor ElRufai expressed sadness over the reports and condoled the families of both persons who were killed, while offering prayers for the repose of their souls.
He also wished the injured victim in Rikau village a quick recovery.
