Bandits kill 2, abduct 9 in Kaduna village

One week after bandits killed a father and son in Baka village, in Igabi Local Government Area (LGA) of Kaduna State, the gunmen returned to the village on Saturday night and killed two people, abducted nine others, mostly women and children.

Daily Trust reports that the bandits had last weekend attacked Baka village and killed one Dan’azumi Musa, a farmer and his son, Sanusi Dan’azumi who resisted abduction.

According to the Kaduna State Government, the bandits who returned to Baka village on Saturday night again attacked the family residence of Dan’azumi Musa and this time around killed his brother, Sale Musa and his son, Amiru Sale

The Kaduna State Commission­er for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, said the bandits who were operating in groups had initially abducted 22 people from the community but troops based in the Sabon Birni general area had been mobilised to engage them and in the process, rescued 13 captives.

Aruwan, however, stated that at the time the 13 victims were rescued, another group of bandits had earlier escaped with another set of nine hostages mostly women and children.

He said those presently in captivity include Saudatu Garba, Laraba Idris, Auta Mansur, Ibrahim Danlami, Hauwa Sale, Fatima Idris, Safara Sale, Shafaatu Idris (infant) and

Fiddausi Mansur (infant).

Similarly, the commission­er stated that security agencies have reported that armed bandits razed the building of the Holy Family Catholic Church, and two homes, in Kikwari village, Kajuru Local Government Area.

He stated that locals had fled the area on receiving informatio­n that some bandits were sighted outside the village adding that on getting to the location, the armed bandits set ablaze the place of worship and the two houses.

Aruwan stated that Governor Nasir El-Rufai had conveyed his grief over the repeat attack and condoled the families affected in the attacks while also condemned the setting ablaze of the place of worship and two houses by armed bandits.
