Yobe deputy gov provides school fees, learning materials to orphans
Yobe State Deputy Governor Hon. Idi Barde Gubana at the weekend provided school fees and learning materials to Gorbo Orphanage Foundation in Fune Local Government Area.
Founded by the Deputy Governor six years ago, the foundation has since been providing orphans with care, including healthcare services among others to enable them to live a decent life and receive proper education.
Gubana said the foundation, which started with 240 orphans, had risen to 866 within six years of establishment.
He described kindness to orphans as one of the surest ways of getting pleasure from God, saying the efforts were meant to assist them in achieving their dreams for a prosperous future.
“As usual, I wish to take this opportunity to express my deep appreciation to His Excellency, Hon. Mai Mala Buni (Chiroman Gujba), the Executive Governor of Yobe State, for encouraging me in this and similar humanitarian activities for the development of peace and egalitarian society.

He called on the people, including the beneficiaries, not to relent in prayers for the full return of peace as well as success in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Dr Mohammed Sani Idriss, extolled the deputy governor for the foundation, describing the support to the orphans, especially on education, as the best investment towards shaping their future.
Various speakers including the Executive Chairman of Fune Local Government Area, traditional rulers and ulamas, commended the initiative and urged other well-to-do people in the society to emulate the deputy governor.
The beneficiaries were drawn from the 10 towns of Ngelzarma, Garin Idi Barde, Damagum, Gubana, Daura, Gaba Tash and Dogon kuka among others.
