Gov Lalong parleys Plateau journalists, assures on completion of Legacy Projects

-

After a successful media tour that took journalists to the 17 Local Government Areas of Plateau State, Governor Simon Lalong has engaged members of the media in a parley to listen to their experiences, comments, suggestions and questions.

While speaking at the media parley held at the Victoria Gowon Auditorium, New Government House, Little Rayfield Jos, Governor Lalong assured the journalists that he will ensure the completion of all Legacy Projects initiated by his administration before the end of his tenure.

In his words: “If we can complete projects we inherited from past Governments, then we would ensure we complete the ones we started. We want to complete the projects during our tenure to avoid the problem of abandoned projects. If we don’t complete them, it will become a waste while the people continue to suffer”.

He also responded to various questions about his administration covering all areas including the expected take off of the National Livestock Transformation Programme, implementing the law on land grabbing, sustaining security and peace, among others.

Commissioner for Information and Communication, Dan Manjang appreciated the Governor for his passion towards the development of the State and his open-door policy that has seen the return of peace to the State.

He said the tour was undertaken in 3 days and covered some projects mostly in the Lalong Legacy Projects. He said many others were not covered because of logistics and time, assuring that with the Governor’s permission, another round of projects inspection will be undertaken in the near future.

Director of Press and Public Affairs to the Governor, Dr. Makut Simon Macham and the DG Research and Documentation, Prof. John Wade, all appreciated the Governor for his media friendly posture which they said has made engagement with the media very smooth.

They said such interactions were important for feedback generation and for proper analysis and documentation of Government activities for future reference and posterity.

NUJ Chairman Plateau State, Comrade Paul Jatau commended the Governor for the ongoing construction works at the Lalong legacy projects all over the 17 local governments.

He urged Governor Lalong to further make efforts to ensure that the terminus market is rebuilt.

Jatau also commended the Governor for the reconstruction work at the Plateau State Secretariat of the NUJ, saying it will be a great delight to have the work completed in the shortest possible time.

The Plateau Publishers Association (PPA) gave the Governor an award for Peace Building and Reconciliation in the State, for his outstanding performance in addressing the challenges that once gave Plateau a bad name.
