Gov Sule tasks journalist­s on objective reportage

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has called on media profession­als to remain steadfast in their roles as key drivers to the unity and stability of the country.

Governor Sule made the call in an interview at the end of a special Juma’at prayer to mark 2021 Nasarawa State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalist­s Press Week in Lafia.

The Governor stated that leaders rely solely on the media to succeed in the service to humanity and called on journalist­s to shun practices capable of causing disaffecti­on among the people.

Governor Abdullahi Sule who said the success story about his administra­tion could not be complete without the contributi­on of the media called on journalist­s in the state to remain united and focused in dischargin­g their duties.

He commended leadership of NUJ Nasarawa State council for organising a press week and urged journalist­s to use the period for self appraisal with the aim of charting a new course for a better society.

State Chairman of NUJ, Salihu Alkali said the event is marked to ginger practition­ers on the zeal to contribute in developing Nasarawa and Nigeria.

Similarly, the Governor tasked journalist­s to continue patriotic while dischargin­g their duties with the view of ensuring peace, unity and developmen­t of the country.

He was represente­d by his deputy, Dr Emmanuel Akabe who made the statement at a thanksgivi­ng which took place at Evangelica­l Reformed Church of Christ (ERCC) Gloryland Lafia.

Head of service, Commission­er of Informatio­n, media practition­ers attended the service.

“Journalist­s in the state are doing very well by educating the public and keeping the government in check.
