Gov Buni, kindly rescue Jajere constituency

-

Iam writing this letter to bring the plight of the good people of Jajere constituency in Fune Local Government Area of Yobe State to the notice of Governor Mai Mala Buni.

Sir, from the moment Nigeria returned to civil rule in 1999, Jajere constituency has remained one of the strongholds of various political parties in governance. High votes are always assured in this constituency during elections; hence politicians do not take the electorate here for granted during campaigns.

Communities that make up this constituency, comprising Kollere/ Kafaje, Kayeri, Jajere A, Jajere B, Marmari/Gudukurka, Mashio and Alagarno wards, share common problems, including dilapidated facilities like roads, health care and a host of other vital amenities. The people are invariably subjected to hardship and poor standard of living.

It may interest you to note that a significant number of people in the affected communities are farmers and cattle herders who have been of immense economic benefit to the state and indeed the North-East.

Sadly, however, many

past governments, as well as the current administration, have failed to bring succour to the law abiding people of the area. In particular, the area is inaccessible because of poor roads, thereby making it difficult for locals to transport their agricultural produce. For instance, during the rainy season, motorists can hardly go to the area due to poor road network.

The situation in this constituency is so worrisome that people from the communities are forced to shed tears on a daily basis. One wonders why successive governments have ignored the plight of the people for such a long time.

Your Excellency, we are very optimistic and believe in your style of leadership, which is aimed at bringing governance closer to the people for desired objectives.

While commending your administration for flagging off the Gujba-Ngalda, Garing BingelKoyel Bula roads and other ongoing capital projects across our dear state, we are hopeful that you would address the plights of the good people of Kafaje, Kayeri, Barumari and Borno-kichi with developmental projects.

For instance,

your administration will be kind to connect Kafaje, Kayeri and Borno-kichi to Koyel Bula road in Danchuwa, a distance of about 26 kilometres, as well as rehabilitate Tikau-Jajere road, one of the busiest roads in the area. This project will immensely generate more economic benefits to the state government, enhance security, create job opportunities to our teeming youths, as well as improve productivity and sustainable economic development.

This will further complement your strategic development plans toward actualising the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which include eradication of hunger and poverty, promoting healthy living, provision of quality education for all, sustainable management of water sanitation and building a resilient and sustainable infrastructure.

May I end this piece by appealing to you once again to consider infrastructural development in these communities as you are demonstrating in some places.
