Potiskum Trailer Park to generate over 5, 000 jobs – Buni
Yobe State Governor and Chairman, APC Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, says his administration is committed to ensuring early completion of Potiskum Trailer Park.
The governor said the park would generate 5, 000 direct jobs when completed.
Buni stated this in Potiskum shortly after inspecting the project along DamaturuBauchi-Kano Bypass, the headquarters of Potiskum Local Government Area.
The governor said the inspection visit was meant to ascertain the completion level of the project for value on the money spent so far.
“We are here to ensure value for the money spent and to encourage the contractor to adhere strictly to the contractual agreements as well as ensure the completion of the project on time.
“We want to commission this project as early as possible, especially that the project is going to provide over 5, 000 direct jobs to our people.
“This is our modest effort to ensure that we resettle our people properly after the devastation caused by the activities of Boko Haram insurgency,” Buni said.
The Director of Building in the Ministry of Housing, Engineer Joseph, while briefing the governor, said the park, measuring 50 hectares of land, when completed, would accommodate a minimum of 1,000 trailers at a time.
“The trailer park has four parking spaces with each space carrying a total of 250 trailers at a time. The park will be provided with lodging, bank, befitting restaurant among other facilities, he said.”
The Commissioner for Commerce, Tourism and Industry, Alhaji Barma Shettima and the Permanent
Secretary in the Ministry of Housing, Alhaji Kashim Tijjani Kalli, conducted the governor round the project.
