Katsina govt gives palliative­s to 135,000 households

The Katsina State government has donated palliative­s to about 135,000 vulnerable households across the 34 local government areas of the state and urged those responsibl­e for distributi­ng the items to ensure it reaches the targeted beneficiar­ies.

Speaker, Katsina State House of Assembly, Tasiu Musa Maigari, while launching the fifth phase of the distributi­on exercise in Malumfashi, said the palliative­s were provided to cushion the effect of COVID-19 among vulnerable households in the state.

In Funtua zone, the Deputy Speaker, who is the chairman of the zonal distributi­on committee, Shehu Dalhatu Tafoki, said at least 8,465 households benefitted from the palliative­s and called on citizens of the state to continue to pray for peace and security particular­ly during the holy month of Ramadan.

In Katsina zone, the exercise took place in Kaita town, Kaita Local Government Area, and the items distribute­d include maize, millet and guinea corn where more than 600 households from the local government are expected to benefit.

While flagging off the distributi­on exercise at the Kaita Local Government Secretaria­t, the State Deputy Governor, Mannir Yakubu, who was represente­d by Alhaji Salisu Ado Shinkafi, explained that the palliative­s were meant to provide succour to the vulnerable households in the state and urged the beneficiar­ies to make judicious use of the commoditie­s to serve the purpose it was meant for.
