The governor noted that the institution provides tertiary education and employment to the people of the state.
He said the location of the institution in the state had helped greatly in reducing the risk attached to distant travels in search of tertiary education and had reduced financial obligations on parents.
Governor Yahaya assured the management of the institution that his administration would do everything necessary to allocate additional land for the university’s expansion.
On request by the university to have a link with the Leventis Foundation in Tumu for its sugar research programme, the governor said the initiative was in line with his administration’s Agricultural Entrepreneurship Training Centre.
He said his administration would look at the best way possible to collaborate for optimal results.
He assured that despite the paucity of funds being experience by the state amidst the multitude of demands, his administration would remain resolute in supporting the university.
Yahaya noted that what goes into the university will trickle down to the people of the state.
Earlier, Prof. Pate said they were at the Government House to officially introduce the new management of the university and intimate the governor with the vision of the new team.
