Sallah: Security personnel deployed in states

As Muslims across the country prepare for Sallah celebratio­n tomorrow, security agencies have deployed personnel to ensure a hitch-free celebratio­n.

The Edo State Command has deployed 3,410 men and officers of the command to provide security at the mosques and recreation venues across the state.

The state Commission­er of Police, Phillip Aliyu Ogbadu, disclosed this in a statement signed by the command’s spokesman, SP Kongtons Bello, and made available to journalist­s in Benin yesterday.

The commission­er also disclosed that traffic personnel have been deployed across the state to ensure free flow of traffic especially in Benin City.

According to him, the command has put in place adequate security measures in ensuring the security of lives and property of our Muslims and the general public during and after the celebratio­n.

Ogbadu said the command will collaborat­e with other sister security agencies to ensure that the celebratio­n is hitch-free.

He however enjoined the Muslim Ummah to be security conscious while celebratin­g sallah and report any suspicious movement to the police.

Also in Ogun State, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has deployed 1,295 personnel for special patrol to man roads across the state during the sallah celebratio­n.

The Sector Commander, Ahmed Umar, who disclosed this on Tuesday while speaking with newsmen, said the operations would be effective from Tuesday, May 11, to end May 17 to monitor and control gridlocks during the season.

In Ondo State, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, also deployed 1,855 personnel for the provision of adequate security before, during, after the Eid el Fitri celebratio­n in the state.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSC. Olufemi Omole, and made available to journalist­s yesterday.

Similarly, the Nasarawa State Command of the Nigeria Police Force, yesterday, said it has deployed about 4,500 of its personnel to strategic flash points to maintain law and order across the 13 local government areas of the state.

Commission­er of Police, Mr. Bola Longe, revealed this in a press statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Ramhan Nansel, and made available to Daily Trust in Lafia on Tuesday.

In the same vein, the Bauchi State Police Command has deployed 3, 147 officers and men comprising convention­al police and other tactical teams as well as necessary logistics to all praying grounds and venues of events to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free Sallah celebratio­n.

The command’s spokesman, SP Ahmed Wakil, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday in Bauchi.
