Abduljabbar apologizes, retracts controversial preachings

-

The renowned Kano cleric, Sheikh Abduljabbar Nasiru Kabara, has retracted his controversial preachings against Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and apologised to entire Muslims.

The cleric, in another audio released late Sunday, said he agreed that his previous preachings went contrary to the teachings of Islam and sought Allah’s forgiveness.

He said: “Peace be unto you my entire Muslim brothers and sisters. I’m here for the second time to tell you that I retract what I have said earlier in my preachings concerning our beloved Prophet (PBUH). I rejected them totally.

“I hope, with this, Almighty Allah and the entire people of our beloved Prophet will forgive my sins. May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad, PBUH,” the cleric said.

Sheikh Abduljabbar, a factional leader of the Qadiriyya sect in Kano State, is famous for his controversial religious commentaries and statements seen as insult on the person of Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) and his companions.

Recalls that the Kano State Government had on Saturday organised a debate between the cleric and other scholars in the state after several agitations by various Islamic scholars within and outside the state on the manner in which Abduljabbar went about his preaching.

He, however, rejected the outcome of Saturday’s debate which he said he was not given enough time to prove his points.

The judge of the debate, Professor Salisu Shehu, had declared that the cleric had failed to answer all the questions or clear himself of the allegations raised against him.

The state, Daily Trust learnt, is set to charge Abduljabbar to court for blasphemy, incitement, and sundry offences.

The police have already issued him with a letter to appear at the state’s police headquarters today, Monday.
