- By Zahraddeen Yakubu Shuaibu

Kano State House of Assembly will today commence the probe of the suspended Chairman of the state’s Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC), Barrister Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado.

An invitation letter sent to the suspended chairman had directed him to appear before the lawmakers on Wednesday by 12 noon at the Assembly’s Conference Hall.

The letter was signed by the Deputy Director, Legal Services, Abdullahi A. Bature.

The Assembly in another letter asked the anti-graft commission to furnish it with details of recovery accounts from 2015 to date.

It also demanded all cash remittances file; details of recoveries made from 2015 to date; details of all beneficiaries to the recoveries made; bank statements for recovery, expenditure and overhead cost accounts from the periods of 2015 to date; and details of donations, aids, grants and assistance received by the commission from companies, individuals, government ministries, departments and agencies from the period of 2015 to date.

Other documents requested are details of payments made from expenditure account from the period of 2015 to date; details of debt/loans the Commission has to settle to clients from 2015 to date; details of the cash payments from the recovery account; details of beneficiaries in respect of cash payment from the recovery account from the period of 2015 to date; details of all payments made from recovery account from 2015 to date; and all cash books from the period of 2015 to date.

Kano Chronicle reports that while Rimingado was suspended for one month to give room for the Anti-corruption Committee of the Assembly to investigate alleged misconducts in the commission, the state Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has appointed the state’s Director for Public Prosecution, Mahmoud Balarabe as acting chairman of the commission.

The assembly had based its decision on a petition from the state Accountant General, which accused Rimingado of refusal to accept a chief accountant posted to the commission but reports said the anti-graft commission’s recent decision to investigate some projects in the state including a Cancer Centre and supply of diesel to the government house, ministries, departments and agencies had pitted it against some members of the first family.
