Barely 48 hours after kidnappers invaded Tungan-Maje, a suburb of Abuja and abducted six people, the kidnappers returned to the area, shooting sporadically, a resident confirmed to Daily Trust.

The resident, Abdullahi Aliyu, said the kidnappers invaded Anguwar Dabiri and Anguwar Samu around 11.pm while shooting.

He said soldiers that were deployed at the outskirts of the community engaged them in a shootout which forced them to flee.

He explained that, “In fact, the kidnappers returned in an attempt to attack some houses at Anguwar Dabiri and Anguwar Samu, but soldiers acted swiftly and foiled the kidnapping attempt as the soldiers engaged them fire for fire until they fled.”

The District Head of Tungan Maje, Alhaji Hussaini Barde, confirmed the incident and commended the military for foiling the kidnapping attempt.

Meanwhile residents of Mpape Phase 2 under Bwari Area Council of FCT have been thrown into panic following a letter sent to the area over a planned attack by armed robbers.

Mpape Phase 2 includes Mashafa, Katampe and Durumi wards, and it shares boundary with the popular Mpape town, which is separated from Maitama District of Abuja by a highway.

She said, “All appropriate measures have been put in place, while residents are implored to be calm and report any suspicious movement to the command promptly.”
