Community lauds NGO for water provision
Residents of Kawo community in Nassarawa Local Government Area of Kano State have commended a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Widi Jalo Foundation, for constructing boreholes in the area.
The water facilities provided are three boreholes with integrated photovoltaic system, elevated service tanks, pipes, transmission and distribution lines and a giant power generator.
Some of the residents who spoke on Monday, commended the organisation and expressed delight over the development.
Mr Sanusi Abdullahi said the area had suffered almost a decade of water scarcity.
He said the residents of the area encountered difficulties in purchasing from vendors who walked long distances to obtain and provide water to the area.
Another resident, Muhammed Ladan, also commended the organisation for coming to the aid of the community.
He said, “We commend their effort because many of our children from 10 years and above had not seen water running from taps in this side of the town.”
He then appealed to other organisations and philanthropists to join in rescuing people from water hardship as government alone could not satisfy people’s needs.
The Chief Executive Officer of the foundation, Abubakar Jalo, said the intervention was necessary having realised it was what they needed during his visit to the community.
Jalo said, “The whole idea began during the COVID-19 pandemic when we engaged in food distribution to people, and we realised there was a plea for water as well. (NAN)
