Akwa United’s NPFL title celebration has been postponed after they were forced to a 1-1 draw by FC IfeanyiUbah in yesterday’s week 36 match played in Nnewi.

Victory for Akwa United would have lifted them beyond the chasing pack but it was mission not accomplished as Uzochukwu Ifejiofor scored in the 87th minute to cancel out John Ubong Friday’s opening goal in the 77th minute to leave the ‘Promise Keepers’ with 68 points.

Second placed Nasarawa United did their continental ambition no harm as they forced Dakkada FC to a 0-0 draw in Uyo to amass 62 points, six less than leaders Akwa United.

However, Kano Pillars who suffered a 0-1 loss at Kwara United have been toppled by Enyimba who picked a crucial point at Lobi Stars to move to third spot on the log with 62 points.

Pillars are now at risk of missing out of the continent as they must win their remaining two matches to stand any chance of qualifying for one of the CAF Inter clubs competitions.

In Akure, Sunshine Stars shocked Plateau United 3-2 to brighten their chances of survival. Former Super Eagles winger, Ejike Uzoenyi scored with the last kick of the ball to deny Plateau United a point in the tie.

At the Agege township stadium, MFM drew 2-2 with Rivers United in a dramatic manner as they came from behind to score two goals in the second half extra time.

Meanwhile, Abia Warriors were the biggest winners as they drubbed relegated Adamawa United 5-1, Rangers piped Katsina United by a lone goal in Enugu just as the match between Jigawa Stars and Warri Wolves which was almost marred by violence ended in a 1-1 draw.
