On DCP Abba Kyari’s FBI indictment

The arrest of Raymond Abbas aka Hushpuppi and FBI’s revelation that indicted DCP Abba Kyari of being an accomplice to Hushpuppi’s fraudulent activities have exposed the naivety of some Nigerians.

May be due to ingrained hatred for this incumbent administration or the person of Kyari, many people are vindictively calling on him to “surrender” himself to FBI - an agency that has no right to carry out arrest on foreign soils without the consent of the host countries.

Assuming the allegations raised by FBI are true, America has no authority to arrest Abba since the crime alleged to have been committed by Kyari was on Nigerian soil, not US. The Police Service Commission (PSC) should constitute a panel to investigate the allegations and if he is found culpable then Nigeria’s government should take action. America has no legal right to dictate whether DCP Abba is culpable of the allegations raised. And this requires due process in accordance with the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria - not US or FBI’s laws.

DCP Abba has a fixed location; which means he is not on the run. Since the arrest warrant was issued by a court in the US - not Nigeria, and Abba Kyari is not an American citizen which gives him right to fair hearing according to the laws of this land, it is absurd and ridiculous to see Nigerians haggling on his culpability.

I am not in support of Kyari’s relationship with Hushpuppi, neither do I side with a bunch of sadists calling for the head of Abba.

However, I disagree with anyone saying DCP Abba Kyari is culpable, until proven.
