Lagos launches largest digital classroom to accommodate 10m students
The Lagos State Government in partnership with Chronicles Software Development Company on Tuesday unveiled ‘EkoDigitalSchool.com’, the largest digital classroom in Africa.
The borderless school which is built on a cloud architecture can accommodate two to 10million students concurrently. It is designed to create equal access for all students so that no one is left out, according to officials.
According to the Cofounder of Chronicles Software Development, Mr. Koyejo
Oluwatosin, the platform is incorporated with all subjects which are aligned based on the curriculum, (week by week) while it also has various important features like assignments, tests, examinations, and reports to ensure continuous interrupted learning, particularly as the COVID-19 pandemic ravages.
Oluwatosin further explained that the Eko Digital School takes a sequential approach to learning where students are expected to complete specific requirement before accessing the next level of content.
Through this platform, students can take classes online, do group projects, and chat with their teachers if they have challenges in solving tests and quizzes. He also averred that plans are ongoing to ensure that the learning platform is data free in order to give equal access to all students in the State.
Commissioner for Education, Mrs Folashade Adefisayo who officially unveiled the online platform said the digital school, which is open to all students and teachers in Lagos, will help them become tech savvy, learn life long skills as well as help build the 21st-century skills that should be integrated into teaching and learning.
