Ozekhome donates office equipment to Maitama Police Division
A Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Mike Ozekhome, has donated office equipment to the Maitama Police Division, Abuja.
Items donated include, HP desktop computer with monitor, Sharp photocopier, UPS, and digital printer.
In his remarks, whilst receiving the items, the Area Commander of the Abuja Metro Area Command, ACP Nuruddeen A. Sabo, applauded Ozekhome for the gesture.
He said: “I sincerely show our deep appreciation to Dr. Mike Ozekhome, there is no word we can say to compliment the gesture that we have received this afternoon.
“Last week I came with this request and today you are presenting these things. I have heard that you are a silent philanthropist and you do not blow your trumpet. I suggested that you should make the donation public today, that way you motivate us and also encourage others to emulate you in supporting the police and other indigents in the society.
“The police cannot do it alone, the government cannot supply all our demands, we must collaborate with people like you,” he said.
Ozekhome (SAN) appealed to Nigerians, especially well to do individuals, to raise up and support the Nigerian police in its efforts to tame insecurity in the country.
He also stressed the need for establishing the state and community policing, noting that they’re keys to effectively checkmating crime and criminals in the society.
“This is why I have always called for and I now maintain that there is a need for us to have state police and community policing. The advantages far outweigh the disadvantages,” Ozekhome added.
