ABU promoting ICT growth in Nigeria- Huawei
Huawei Technologies Company has praised the management and staff of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) for promoting the growth of ICT in the Institution saying the efforts of the university give hope to ICT companies to keep pushing for a better digital Nigeria.
Speaking at the 2021 Huawei ICT Job Fair held at the campus for Nigerian students, the Director, Service Delivery for Huawei Technologies Co. Nigeria Ltd, Melissa Chen said the event marked the second time Huawei was launching its ICT job fair at the ABU campus.
Melissa also assured that the ICT company would shape the future of Nigeria’s ICT industry by bridging the digital divide and bringing the latest technologies into the industry.
She also said since Nigeria was fast developing in industrialisation, infrastructure and the economy, ICT remained one of the key factors for the country’s development which was why Huawei would need to give more opportunities engineers.
She stated that in last year’s Huawei ICT Competition, students from ABU, University of Port Harcourt and the University of Ibadan won “the Global Grand Prize in the Network and Cloud Track and Second Prize in the Network Track,” a feat she said had never been achieved by any country in the competition.
In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor of ABU, Prof. Kabiru Bala thanked the global ICT company for its support towards empowering Nigerian students through the use of Huawei ICT solutions.
The Vice-Chancellor, who congratulated the students who participated in the qualification test and interview session, said the more proficient one gets in ICT, the more distinguished the student becomes.
The participating students at the job fair first went through a qualification test and later participated in an interview session anchored by a team of interviewers from the ICT company and its partners.
