Aiteo Group keen on developing Nigerian football at all levels

- By Jide Olusola

The Federation Cup sponsors, Aiteo Group have reiterated their continued desire to develop the growth of Nigerian football at all levels.

According to the Group Head, Strategic Communications, Media & Events, Ndiana-Abasi Matthew, the Aiteo Group is proud of the success recorded since its foray into football sponsorship.

In a chat after the finals of the 2021 Aiteo Cup in Benin City, Ndiana-Abasi hailed Bayelsa United and Bayelsa Queens for producing sweet football and emerging victorious as they will represent Nigeria at the continental levels.

“We didn’t just focus on the national team and part of our strategy is to develop grassroots football. We need to get back to the basics to discover new talents. Look at the young Bayelsa United players, a second division team beat Rangers, Rivers United and Nasarawa United, the second strongest team in the league.

“They were tireless and that indefatigable spirit is what Aiteo has. It is a new day for Nigerian football where the Bayelsa teams will be on the continent. It was a wonderful event and we at Aiteo Group look back at our decision to go into sports as a CSR with pride,” he said.

He further said their N2.5bn sponsorship with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has helped improve its marketing visibility.

“Under our partnership, NFF’s marketing visibility increased. We saw Nike increased the money they put down on the country. Before, Nike won’t market Nigeria, they will just give jerseys but this time, they went through the processes and marketed our jersey and we became the best jersey brand in the whole world and that’s because Aiteo came behind the NFF to support them,” he said.
