Youth Day: Group wants more youths in politics

To mark the 2021 Internatio­nal Youth Day, President of the Junior Chamber Internatio­nal (JCI), Abiola Olorunisol­a, has advised youths in the country to engage in politics to improve on the country’s developmen­t.

Olorunisol­a who spoke at a press conference organised as part of the 2021 celebratio­n of youths internatio­nal day said ten Nigerian youths would be given Outstandin­g Young Persons awards for their efforts in promoting peace in Nigeria.

“I am very delighted that you great minds find it worthwhile to spend your time with us on this occasion of the Internatio­nal Youth

Day and JCI Ten Outstandin­g Young Persons of Nigeria.

“It warms my heart that this generation would be better because you have chosen to take a path that would be remembered many years later as a path that is truly worth it.

“At this juncture, we want to encourage our youths to get involved in politics for betterment of the country,” he noted.

He also said the can-do spirit and creativity of the Nigerian youth amidst challenges have allowed us to thrive and gain a global recognitio­n in sports, entertainm­ent, fashion, modelling, technology and entreprene­urship.

He said in 2020, Paystack, a local firm got $200 million investment to upscale their work as he urged the participan­ts to strive for more.

“Today, we have all recipients of JCI Ten Outstandin­g Young Persons of Nigeria (TOYP) award here seated, in recognitio­n of their various contributi­ons to providing sustainabl­e solutions that make human lives better and meaningful.”
