Remains of Jigawa liaison officer, driver recovered in Kaduna, Badaru mourns

-

Kaduna State Police Command has recovered the remains of the Jigawa State Liason Officer in Abuja, Alhaji Suleiman Jazuli and his driver from a ditch after they were involved in a ghastly motor accident on Wednesday.

Daily Trust reports that the victims were said to have fallen off the Azara Bridge around Azara, near Jere along the Kaduna-Abuja highway during a heavy downpour.

Former Senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani had posted on social media that the bodies of the victims had been found in Jere village along the KadunaAbuja Highway but was not specific on the nature of their death.

Sani wrote: “It’s painful to learn that the bodies of Alhaji Suleiman Jazuli, the Jigawa State Liason Officer, Abuja and his driver have been found at Jere village along KadunaAbuja road. This a tragedy and a great loss. A good man is gone. I send my condolences to their families, the government and the people of Jigawa State. May Allah grant them Aljanna Firdausi. Amin”

However, Kaduna State Police command yesterday told Daily Trust that the duo had been on transit to Abuja when the driver of the Landcruiser conveying them lost control of the vehicle and fell off the Azara Bridge which was then flowing with water.

State Police Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mohammed Jalige said it was raining when the accident occurred and because there was no one in sight, the accident was unreported.

He however said the remains of the victims and the vehicle they were travelling in had been recovered by law enforcement agencies on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Jigawa State governor, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, has described the death of Jazuli and his driver as a great loss not only to his immediate family but to the entire state.

Speaking through his Spokesman, Habibu Nuhu Kila in an interview with Daily Trust in Dutse yesterday, the governor said the officer was an epitome of honesty dedication and diligence and prayed for the repose of the souls of the departed.
