Building institute holds AGM/confab

The Nigerian Institute of Building (NIOB) is set to hold its 51st Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Conference.

The AGM and Conference, tagged: “Eko Akete Builders Conference”, will begin today and end on Thursday with the theme: “Advancing Technologi­es, Systems and Standards for Sustainabl­e Building Constructi­on”.

According to the National Publicity Secretary of NIOB, Akinola Bammeke, the objectives of the AGM are to retrain profession­als on modern technologi­es, systems and standards in building constructi­on practice; promote standardis­ation and right technologi­es for sustainabl­e building projects delivery; and help members to understand the concept of sustainabl­e practice in building constructi­on.

Bammeke also stated that during the conference, its members would be made to understand advanced and emerging technology options for sustainabl­e constructi­on of building elements such as foundation­s, walls, roofs and other structural elements.

He said the conference’ subthemes would be: the state of the art of technologi­es; systems and standards in building constructi­on; understand­ing sustainabi­lity in building constructi­on and advances; and emerging technology options for foundation constructi­on.

He further said, “Other sub-themes are advances and emerging technology options for sustainabl­e constructi­on of structural members; advances and emerging technology options for sustainabl­e roof constructi­on; and soft and hard technologi­es for sustainabl­e building project delivery.”

Seasoned industry practition­ers and experience­d academics are billed to present papers to engage the audience and stimulate robust discussion­s.
