Durosinolu­wa, Ntupe, Olatunji win 3rd OBJ national squash tourney

Mistura Durosinolu­wa, Dominion Ntupe and Busayo Olatunji have emerged as top players at the just concluded 3rd Olusegun Obasanjo National

Squash championsh­ip in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

At the end of competitio­n, Durosinolu­wa from Kwara defeated Delight Allison from Akwa Ibom State by three straight sets to emerge the winner in the U-16 category, Ntupe from Lagos won the boys U-16 category while Number three seeded player, Olatunji from Delta State defeated number one, Rofiat Abdulazeez from Kwara state 118, 8-11, 11-3 and 11-7 to emerge winner in the senior women category.

The trio attributed their success to hard work and dedication to the game.

Speaking at the closing ceremony which was held yesterday at the Olusegun Obasanjo squash courts in Abeokuta, the former President said he is addicted to the game as it has been one of the secrets behind his longevity.

He described squash, believed to be a game of the army, as interestin­g and exciting.

The 84 year old player reiterated that the grace of God and the game of squash are secrets of his longevity.

“Those of you who probably feel that the game of squash is something that is fearful, you can now see the beauty, excitement and the interest. It is a very beautiful game.

“I am addicted to it. I am 84 going to 85 years. I’m still playing squash. So, when people ask me, what is the secret? It’s the grace of God and squash is part of the secret,” Obasanjo said.
