NDPHC to boost power supply in Ekiti by 15MW
The Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) said it will boost the power supply in Ekiti State by 15 megawatts (MW) when it completes the 7.5MVA, 33/11 kilovolts (kV) injection substation at Ido-Ekiti.
The Executive Director, Networks at NDPHC, Engr. IfeOluwa Oyedele who stated this at the ground-breaking ceremony yesterday, said the project also has a service line with the installation of four 500KVA distribution substation transformers, NDPHC said in a statement.
Oyedele noted that NDPHC had completed five injection substations in Ekiti state since its inception. “It is for the entire local government because the power requirement of the Ekiti state is in the region of about 250MW. When you add 10 to 15MW to that kind of load, you will see it is substantial.”
He also revealed that the substation project is one of the 10 NDPHC interventions in the State. “In scoping this project, we engaged with BEDC and we have been assured that the intervention of NDPHC in the improvement of electricity infrastructure in this community will align with their proposed infrastructure upgrade in the Community and the entire state,” said Oyedele.
The Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, who performed the groundbreaking rite for the project, said power supply to Ekiti is inadequate, adding that the project was a priority one.
Fayemi lauded President Muhammadu Buhari and the NDPHC as he called for its early completion.
On his part, the Olujodo of Ido-Ekiti, Oba Ayorinde Ilori Faboro, said with the project, businesses that had relocated from the community would return.
