LMC expel Tornadoes goalkeeper trainer from NPFL activities
In a bid to wipe out unprofessional conducts that could jeopardise the integrity of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), the League Management Company (LMC) has expelled Niger Tornadoes Goalkeeper Trainer, Bello Mohammed from the NPFL and any other activities involving the league.
It will be recalled the LMC had fined Dakkada FC of Uyo N3.5m and banished the club to Benin after one of its officials had assaulted an assistant referee.
In a statement released on Monday, the LMC noted that Coach Mohammed assaulted the referee in charge of their matchday 5 NPFL fixture against Rivers United in Kwara State on Saturday.
The LMC noted that “… on Saturday, the 8 of January 2022, you assaulted the referee, whereby you struck several blows to his face as he proceeded towards the dressing room after the match.”
While stipulating the various rules guiding the NFL, which
Coach Mohammed ran foul of, the LMC recommended that the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF review his coaching licence as he has failed to live up to the dictates of his coaching certification
“Upon a review of the Matchday 5 fixture: Niger Tornadoes vs. Rivers United, you are hereby charged with breach of Rule C11 of the Framework and Rules of the Nigeria Professional Football League (the League Rules) in that on Saturday, the 8 of January 2022, you assaulted the referee, whereby you struck several blows to his face as he proceeded towards the dressing room after the match.
“Consequently, the LMC intends to exercise its summary jurisdiction and to impose on you the immediate expulsion from the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) and any NPFL-organised activities and a recommendation to the Nigeria Football Federation to review your coaching licence as you have failed the threshold to be a coach under the NFF licence,” the release signed by the Chief Operating Officer, Salihu Abubakar read.
