We’ll sustain massive intervention projects in barracks – COAS

- From Hope Abah Emmanuel, Makurdi

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya, has assured that his administration will continue massive intervention projects in all facilities of the Nigerian Army (NA) across the country.

Gen Yahaya disclosed this at the opening ceremony of the Second Project Management Workshop 2022 for army’s project officers at the Nigerian Army School of Military Engineering (NASME), Makurdi, Benue State.

The COAS, who was represented by Maj Gen Kamil

Kadiri, Commander of the Corps of Army Engineers, maintained that his tenure would sustain its stride of intervention projects in schools, offices, barracks renovation and construction, procurement of new platforms and rehabilitation of hospitals to boost the welfare of personnel.

He said, “This workshop, which is a follow-on of the first workshop, seeks to enhance the capacity of participants in modern engineering best practices and processes. The overall objective is to promote timely delivery of high-quality projects for the Nigerian Army. It is my belief that this workshop will offer an opportunity to appraise previous performances in project constructions with a view to achieving better outcomes with limited resources.

“The sustainment of this drive depends on efficient project planning and management to optimise value for the resources being expended. I will, therefore, support all measures that seek to better the living and working conditions of personnel. I am, therefore, glad that the objectives of this workshop are in line with my desire to improve the welfare of Nigerian Army officers and soldiers.”
