Tinubu assured of massive votes in Kogi

The patron of Team Gamji for Asiwaju/Shettima Presidency, Alhaji Sanusi Abubakar, has promised to mobilise massive votes for the presidenti­al candidate of the All Progressiv­e Congress (APC), Ahmed Bola Tinubu, in Kogi Central ahead of next year’s polls.

The governorsh­ip candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Jigawa State, Mustapha Sule Lamido, has widened his consultati­ons with stakeholde­rs across party lines to garner support ahead of next year’s general elections.

Daily Trust reports that Lamido yesterday met with Senator Danladi Sankara, an All Progressiv­es Congress (APC) lawmaker from the state, at the senator’s residence in Abuja during which the duo had discussion­s.

Sankara was a stalwart of the up support for the Asiwaju/ Shettima ticket, called on the people of Kogi Central to deliver the APC candidate.

He said Tinubu worked very hard for the actualisat­ion of democratic rule in Nigeria.

Addressing the crowd, the Chairman of Team Gamji, Alhaji Kent Abubakar, said, “Politics is local, hence the mobilisati­on and sensitisat­ion from the grassroots.”

There has been a cold war between Senator Sankara and Governor Muhammad Badaru of the state since the aftermath of the APC primary election for the zone.

The Abuja meeting came on the heels of rumours that the senator may dump the ruling party.

Speaking on the visit, an aide to Lamido, Mansur Ahmed, said Sankara was one of “the fathers of the state” who Lamido deemed important to consult in his quest to govern the state.
