Hanga flays Kwankwaso over Atiku-Ganduje new party allegation

- From Balarabe Alkassim, Bauchi By Muideen Olaniyi

The Nigeria Air Force yesterday held a road march in Bauchi, as part of efforts to maintain physical fitness among its personnel.

One hundred and fifty four Airmen and women, including the Air Officer Commanding participated in the first road march since the establishment of the Bauchi Air Force Base. The endurance trek performed by the personnel covered 10 kilometres, it was gathered.

Addressing the personnel after the road march, the Air Officer Commanding, Air Vice Marshall Sani Ahmed, said that the exercise was a time tested military tradition. He said that apart from ensuring physical fitness, it also strengthens the atmosphere of Esprit De Corps among personnel.

He added that being fit and mentally alert would help members of the Nigerian military perform their duties effectively.

AVM Ahmed urged the Airmen and women to be committed to their duties at all times, noting that the success of the Nigerian military depends on cohesion, patriotism and commitment. A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Kano State, Senator Rufai Hanga, has flayed Senator Musa Rabiu Kwankwaso for allegedly accusing former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of plotting to form a new political party ahead of 2019.

Hanga, who spoke yesterday on the allegations, said though “Atiku Abubakar and Governor Ganduje are in politics, they are not at war with anybody because as he (Kwankwaso) should know better there is indeed life beyond politics.”

The pioneer National Chairman of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) said, “Atiku never discussed with anyone and least of all Governor Ganduje, the purported decision to leave the APC and form another party”.

Hanga, who said that the former Vice President and Governor Ganduje remain “unwavering and loyal members of APC and would always work for its success”, advised Kwankwaso and his supporters to stop spreading what he called division, distrust, disaffection and disunity among members of the APC political family.

He also urged Kwankwaso to stop dragging the name of former Vice President into “dirty internal politics of lies, mischief, gossip and rumour mongering of Kano State, adding “lies have short legs, they do not run very far.”
