‘WASA boost soldiers’ morale

Retired Major General Aminu Bichi Maitama yesterday said the West African Social Activities (WASA) is a forum that allows officers and men to socialise, thereby boosting their morale.

Maitama, who was a special guest at this year’s Depot Nigerian Army WASA, that took place at the

Chindit Cantonment, Zaria, said “the ceremony is purely a regimental event which offers an avenue for officers and soldiers to come together and socialise after a hard year’s job. I want to also use this opportunit­y to congratula­te you all for reviving an important Nigerian Army activity which is a relevant event in the custom and tradition of the NA.”

The high points of the event include tug of war between different units of the Chindit cantonment and cultural displays by families of officers and men of the Depot Nigerian Army.

The Commandant of the Depot, Brigadier General Christophe­r G. Musa, Commandant, Nigerian Military School (NMS), Brigadier General Mukhtar M. Bunza and Director Army Physical Training, Brigadier General UO Olatoye, were present at the event.
