ONLINE Customs, this is national chaos
The Senators are not fighting for us the masses. Have they bothered to find out how much we receive as salary? Why are they so concerned about what is happening with the Nigeria Customs? Please let us all think deeply about issues before making comments about them.
PMB is the Commander-in-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces, but he does not wear military uniform. The constitution does not stipulate that the Customs boss must wear uniform, so why are the lawmakers insisting on it? The Senate should be more concerned about performance. I urge the Senators to start thinking digitally and leave matters that are not important alone.
Is this a proxy war? Recently, the Customs Service intercepted and seized over 600 pump action guns imported into the country. My question is, are interested parties and corruption using the Senate to fight the CG? If not what’s the fuss about uniform. The hood does not make the monk.
The problem is not about Hameed Ali or the Senators; it is about the policy. How can anybody ask the Nigerian masses in this hard economy to pay Customs duty for vehicles they have been using for years? Already, people are struggling to get food and pay fees for their children in schools. Does uniform determine performance? I don’t think that is the most important thing at the moment.
Uniform or no uniform, in as much as the man performs well, we will be fine with it. Nigerians should try to get their priorities right.
The Customs boss is a retired Army officer, how can he start wearing Customs uniform now? He is dedicated to his duties and he should be allowed to focus on that job.
How about General Haladu Hananiya, who wore Road Safety uniform after his retirement from the Army? For the sake of peace, Hameed Ali should just obey the Senate. He should resign if he does not want to wear the Customs uniform.
Is he the only one who can serve in that position? If he does not want to wear the uniform, then somebody else should be given the job.

He should resign. I know of people who served in the Army, resigned and joined the Police and wore the uniform. Can somebody say that because he was in the national soccer team, he won’t wear the jersey of the local team if he finds himself there? A one-time Road Safety boss was a retired Army officer, but he wore Road Safety uniform throughout his tenure.
It is sad that the National Assembly, rather than concentrate on more pressing issues, is wasting time on this matter. The Customs boss should solve this problem by wearing the uniform. The Senate should recommend his sack if he fails to appear before it in uniform.
