Day Emir of Zazzau turbaned ‘Dakacin’ Dogaraga Allah
The people of DogaraGa Allah District celebrate the turbaning of their traditional ruler with splendor.
February 23 will forever remain memorable for the people of Dogaraga Allah District of Rigasa in Kaduna State, as it was the day their new royal father Alhaji Safiyanu Abubakar Dantsoho was turbaned by the Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Shehu Idris.
Abubakar was son to late Dakaci Alhaji Abubakar Dantsoho, who passed on a month earlier after a brief illness. It was such a huge loss to the people of Rigasa and environs who have become accustomed to having the late ‘Dakaci’ preside over their affairs, Daily Trust on Sunday gathered.
But on that day, their mournful moods were turned celebratory as hundreds accompanied the successor to the Emir of Zazzau’s palace for his installation as their new royal minder.
The event was full of pomp and pageantry as friends of the Zazzau emirate and many other well-wishers came out en-masse to witness the momentous occasion.
Speaking to Daily Trust on Sunday at the venue, the new ‘Dakaci’ Alhaji Abubakar thanked God for the honour which he admited was a big responsibility and also took out time to pray for his late father who he said presided with vigour and selflessness.
“It’s a big day for not only myself but for the people of Dogaraga Allah and Kaduna State because this honour is a huge responsibility to the people and I pray to Almighty Allah to give us the strength and ability to carry out the task with humility and justice,” he said.
Some of the well-wishers who attended the high profile event included several traditional leaders, Alhaji Audu Yaro Makama, one of the APC chieftains in Kaduna State and Mahmud Bawa Mansur, a former House of Representatives aspirant for Kaduna.
Bawa in his assessment of the occasion said the new royal father has all the required qualities to bring about peace, stability and development to the region. He prayed for God’s guidance for Dantsoho.
“It’s a huge occasion for our people because as you know we recently lost his father who in his wisdom was able to bring unity and development to our area and now it’s his turn to take over the baton and I’m confident that he will do it perfectly,” he said.
Immediately after the turbaning, the horse durbar kicked off as the ‘Dakaci’ and several other well-wishers went round some of the areas in Kaduna in celebration on their well-decorated horses while also wearing the usual royal regalia.
Also speaking on the occasion, a resident of Dogara Ga Allah, Mallam Isah Abdulmumin said people of the area were very happy with the development and were looking forward to settlement of disputes and other positive policies by the new royal father.
“His father was very good to us and due to his forward thinking initiatives and quest for justice, a lot was achieved during his reign and now we are hoping this new Dakaci, will also help us move forward,” Abdulmumin said.
