Coach Imama hoping Rangers will emulate Barca’s comeback

- By Mansur Abubakar

Enugu Rangers boss Imama Amakapabo says he’s hoping his side can emulate Spanish giants Barcelona’s recent comeback as they tackle Zamalek at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium this afternoon.

The Nigerian champions Rangers were hammered 4-1 by Egypians giants Zamalek in the first-leg in Cairo last weekend but their manager is refusing to throw in the towel just yet.

In a chat with Fever Pitch, the Eagles assistant manager was optimistic, saying in football ‘it isn’t over till the final whistle.’

“We know the first leg result was really unfavourable but we need to pull up our sleeves and show what we can do tomorrow (today) and hopefully our teeming fans will also contribute in cheering us to victory.” He said.

In last weekend’s tie, Mostafa Fathi, Ayman Hefny, Hossam Salama and Stanley Ohawuchi all netted for Zamalek, while Bobby Clement scored for Rangers.

This was Rangers’ second consecutive defeat having lost to Rivers United in the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) game before facing Zamalek.

Amapakabo, the Rangers coach, will once again look to Clement, who has netted two goals in this year’s Champions League, to inspire his side to victory.

A 3-0 victory over Zamalek, will see Rangers advance to the 2017 CAF Champions League group stages.
