FG flag-off N500m earth dam water scheme

The Federal Government yesterday flagged -off the constructi­on of an earth dam at Otuo in Owan-East Local Government of Edo State. Speaking during the inaugratio­n, the Managing-Director, Benin-Owena River Basin Developmen­t Authority, Mr Saliu Ahmed, said the N500 million would serve the people of Otuo and several other communitie­s in both Owan-East and West local government­s areas.

Also, member representi­ng Owan Federal Constituen­cy in the House of Representa­tives, Pally Iriase, said the Federal Government would undertake massive constructi­on of dams to boost agricultur­e.

The contractor handling the project, Mr Tony Idirisu, said it would entail the constructi­on of the 1.5 metres high dam which would provide about 3.47 million cubic litres of water with a completion period of 12 months.
