NVRI wants FG to appoint substantive Executive Director

Staffers of the National Veterinary Research Institute, (NVRI), Vom, have appealed to its leaders to press on the Federal Government to approve the recommendations of the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria, (ARCN) and the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to appoint a substantive Executive Director for the institute before May 29.

The institute’s branch Chairman of the Senior Staff Association of Universities, Teaching Hospitals, Research Institutes and Associated Institutions (SSAUTHRIAL), Comrade Cyril Mafai, made the appeal at its sectorial council meeting in Vom, near Jos.

He noted that since the five year tenure of the former executive director ended October 4, 2015, the institute has been without a substantive head.

Mafai said Dr David Shamaki who is the Acting ED has been operating in that capacity despite the conduct of examinations and interviews after a placed advertisement by the ARCN since March 2016.
