Dutse needs good roads
There is no gainsaying that Dutse in Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, (FCT), is a highly populated satellite settlement of Abuja. On a daily basis, people from the area throng the city centre from Dutse, which is about 13 kilometres away. The settlement comprises DutsenAlhaji, Dutse-Sokale and DutseMakaranta.
However, the area lacks access roads despite the high vehicular movements from the area. In fact, the whole of Dutse has no tarred road, except the one from the Power-line to PHCN office to the junction opposite a bank. Even at that, the road has not been in its best shape in recent times.
It is really unimaginable that the area with a lot of worship places, schools and markets has been left unattended to for such a long time. A few years ago, the government constructed the stretch from the inner access road from Dutse-Sokale to Galadima and Dawaki. I call on the federal government which was responsible for the project to resume work on the road as it would ease traffic along the Dutsen-Alhaji and Kubwa road network.
We must note that besides the lack of good roads, there are no proper drainages, which turn the area into a nightmare when it rains. The government should act swiftly as the Dutse-Sokale roundabout is usually blocked whenever it rains.
