Police close national museum for Sallah

- By Lami Sadiq, Jos

The Plateau State Police Command yesterday said as part of efforts to maintain security in Jos and environs, the national museum which houses the zoological garden and various relics would be closed on Sallah day.

The area is a major site during festivities in Jos, but the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Tyopev Terna said the closure was due to the areas porous nature which can be targeted by criminals.

Terna, in a press statement made available to journalists stated that tricycles were also banned on Sallah day while the ban on motorcycles and the use and sale of fireworks would be enforced.

While calling on worshippers to park their vehicles about 500 meters away from the Eid ground, he urged parents and community leaders to warn their wards against throwing of stones and hanging on vehicles while moving to or returning from the Eid ground.
