The Plus-size fashion week indeed would be the first of its kind in Africa, as it has never been done before. This event is to highlight plus size models and beautiful apparels through runway shows and fashion exhibitions. A business masterclass and skill acquisition program are part of the activities lined up for this event scheduled to hold at the Oriental Hotel in Lagos on 5th August 2017.

Themed ‘Celebrating the real African woman’, the first ever edition is proposed to attract over 20 designers who will showcase their designs and fashion pieces specifically made for plus sized women.

“PFWAfrica is aimed at maximising the growing focus of the plus-size fashion industry and also the promotion of the African culture.The Plus-size Fashion Week Africa was birthed out to stop the stigmatisation and body shaming of the plus-sized woman, we believe that every woman should be comfortable in her skin and body regardless of what the society thinks as long as they are healthy”, Balogun Fatoyinbo, a representative of the organisers revealed. “Style; all who have it share one thing - originality.” -Diana Vreeland
