Ophthalmia neonatorum

My baby who is two weeks old is discharging from the eyes. Talatu, Jalingo

Infections like ophthalmia neonatorum which cause this kind of discharge are not uncommon in newborns. They usually contact it during delivery in the birth canal. Organisms which cause such are neisseria gonorrhoeae and chlamydia species. Treatment is basically topical eye ointment or drops.
