PDP: Ladoja, Makinde hold par­al­lel con­gresses in Oyo

The Oyo State chap­ter of the Peo­ples Demo­cratic Party (PDP) on Satur­day held par­al­lel con­gresses to elect ex­ec­u­tives for the party.

A fac­tion loyal to the for­mer gov­er­nor of the state, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, held its congress at the Wa­ter­shed Event Cen­tre in Old Ife road while the other fac­tion loyal Seyi Makinde held its own at Bap­tist Se­condary school, OkeAdo, Ibadan.

Ladoja fac­tion elected Chief Kunmi Mustapha as state chair­man while Makinde’s fac­tion elected Ja­cob Adetoro as chair­man.

The two con­gresses were mon­i­tored by a del­e­ga­tion of the In­de­pen­dent Na­tional Elec­toral Com­mis­sion (INEC).

An ear­lier meet­ing to bro­ker peace which lasted for hours be­tween the two groups was dead­locked.

Those at the Oke-Ado congress in­cluded Makinde, Senator Hosea Ay­oola Ag­boola, a for­mer Leader, House of Rep­re­sen­ta­tives, Mu­likat Ade­ola Akande, Al­haji Hazeem Gbo­larumi, Al­haja Bose Aded­ibu, Oluyemi Taiwo, Tir­im­isiyu Okunola and Dare Adeleke.

At Old Ife road congress are two for­mer min­is­ters Wole Oye­lese and Jumoke Ak­in­jide, Se­na­tors Femi Lan­le­hin, Ayoade Ade­seun and Gbenga Ba­balola, Dr Saka Ba­lo­gun, Hameed Gbadamosi, Chief Alli Oyedeji, Olayi­wola Olakojo and Dr Mu­raina Aji­bola among oth­ers.
