PDP: Ladoja, Makinde hold parallel congresses in Oyo

The Oyo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Saturday held parallel congresses to elect executives for the party.

A faction loyal to the former governor of the state, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, held its congress at the Watershed Event Centre in Old Ife road while the other faction loyal Seyi Makinde held its own at Baptist Secondary school, OkeAdo, Ibadan.

Ladoja faction elected Chief Kunmi Mustapha as state chairman while Makinde’s faction elected Jacob Adetoro as chairman.

The two congresses were monitored by a delegation of the Independen­t National Electoral Commission (INEC).

An earlier meeting to broker peace which lasted for hours between the two groups was deadlocked.

Those at the Oke-Ado congress included Makinde, Senator Hosea Ayoola Agboola, a former Leader, House of Representa­tives, Mulikat Adeola Akande, Alhaji Hazeem Gbolarumi, Alhaja Bose Adedibu, Oluyemi Taiwo, Tirimisiyu Okunola and Dare Adeleke.

At Old Ife road congress are two former ministers Wole Oyelese and Jumoke Akinjide, Senators Femi Lanlehin, Ayoade Adeseun and Gbenga Babalola, Dr Saka Balogun, Hameed Gbadamosi, Chief Alli Oyedeji, Olayiwola Olakojo and Dr Muraina Ajibola among others.
