Catheter meant for 10 days falls off after three days

-

I had a procedure called hysteroscopy four days ago and a device was inserted inside my womb. I was told the rubber would be there for 10 days, but three days after the operation, it fell off. I have been trying to get my doctor but I could not reach him. Meanwhile, what do I do? – Madam Tolulope

For Foley’s catheter to have been inserted after hysteroscopy you most likely have Adhesiolysis or Asherman’s syndrome: that is breaking the bounds of adhesion in the endometrial cavity. Therefore, medical devices like Foley catheter or sometimes Intrauterine Contraceptive Device (IUCD) are inserted to minimise the chances of recurrence.

I will advise you to try and see your doctor so that it may be reinserted as soon as possible.

However, in some cases we don’t bother to reinsert it again. I hope you are on other medications that can increase the chances of regeneration of the endometrium; usually hormonal support.
