Wike alleges attack by Ameachi’s security personnel
Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike yesterday alleged that over 50 men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) and soldiers attached to the Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi, attacked his convoy.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Electronic Media, Simon Nwakudu, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt, said the governor escaped assassination. He said the governor was inspecting a project at Nwanja Junction on Trans-Amadi road when the incident occurred.
He said the SARS personnel and soldiers pushed down the governor’s escort rider and attacked the policemen in the pilot car.
Nwakaudu alleged that Mr Debewari, Aide -De- Camp to the Minister, supervised the attack.
He said Wike was not harmed during the incident, stressing that the governor continued with the inspection after the incident.
When contacted, the Commander of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad in the state, Mr Akin Fakorede, refused to comment on the matter.
He referred our correspondent to the state’s Police Public Relations Officer. However, when contacted, the PPRO, Nnamdi Omoni, did not pick calls put through to him.
Also, the state’s Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chris Finebone, said he had no information about the incident.
