IMPUNITY Al-Makura: How commissioner ordered arrest of teen over facebook comments
A commissioner in Nasarawa State ordered the arrest of a secondary school student for “endorsing” Governor Umaru Al-Makura for the 2019 Senatorial election.
involved is a minor.
But a day later, the commissioner called a press briefing where Akaaka, debunked media reports alleging that he ordered the arrest of a 17-year-old boy for declaring support for the 2019 senatorial bid of the state governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura on a facebook comment.
The commissioner described the publication as baseless and unfounded, orchestrated by mischief makers who were bent on pulling him down and calculated to create disaffection between the governor and the people.
The commissioner wondered why he could order for the arrest of somebody for declaring support for his boss for the Senate, pointing out that the evil intention of those he described as mischief makers was to incite his boss against him.
The Nasarawa State Command Police Public Relations Officer, Idrisu Kennedy, denied arrest of the boy.
“It’s true that the Commissioner of Environment forwarded a complaint to the SARS unit, but they ordered him to put his complain through a petition in respect of the criminal claims but the boy was not arrested,” Kennedy said.
