The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has approved 10 additional registration centres for Kogi State to ease the on-going Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) exercise in the state.

A statement issued in Lokoja by the Head of Voters Education and Publicity (VEP) of INEC in the state, Mr Ahmed Bagudu Biambo, on behalf of the Resident Electoral Commissioner, said the move was to address the issues relating to difficult terrains, long distances and congestions which often result to violence at some of the registration centres.

He named the approved registration centres to include Opposite FCE Campus I in Okehi LGA, LGEA School Okengwe in Okene LGA, Open Space Market Square Odolu in Igalamela/Odolu LGA; GSS Alloma in Ofu LGA and Central School, Ogugu Central in Olamaboro LGA.

Others include: Pilot Primary School, Abocho in Dekina LGA; Akpasu/Ette Village in Kogi/Koton-Karfe LGA; Open Space, Okoro Ogah Ogidi in Ijumu LGA; Allu Town beside the market square in Yagba-east LGA and Yagba-west LGA School, Ares/Ilemila in Yagba West LGA.

He said the additional centres brings the total of registration centres in the state to 37, adding that eligible voters yet to register should seize the opportunity of the additional centres to register for their PVCs ahead of the 2019 election.

Biambo said a total of 126,501 persons have been registered in the state since April 27, 2017, when the Commission commenced the exercise.

He said a total of 31,486 PVCs have been collected since the commencement of the exercise, leaving a balance of 259, 437.
