UNBEATABLE SPORTS ACTION
Super Eagles defender Tyronne Ebuehi has expressed his intention to remain at his Dutch club ADO Den Haag beyond this season. “I’m enjoying myself here and I do not want to leave. I still learn every day, am happy with the players and trainers and if I can sign here, I would really like to do that. But I am also just honest. I do not think the offer I received is very good.”
He stressed that the new contract offered him lacked “a bit of appreciation”.
The Nigeria international will be a free agent at the end of the season and Alfons Groenendijk’s side are trying hard to keep the defender.
Ebuehi is a regular feature in his team with 17 appearances in the Dutch top-flight this season.
“I do not think the offer I received is very great. [But it is] missing a little bit of appreciation,” Ebuehi told Omroep West.
The defender who made his international debut for Nigeria in June 2017 dismissed speculations linking him away from the Dutch Eredivisie club, saying: “I do not concern myself with that. The most important thing now is the training camp.”
With the Storks camped in Belek for preparations ahead of the second half of the Dutch league, Ebuehi quashed reports that he has signed pre-contract agreement with English Championship side, Norwich City.
“It’s important for a footballer of my age that I play. Of course you never get that guarantee, but there is a good chance that ADO Den Haag does. If I embark on a new adventure, then that opportunity is a bit smaller, of course.
“I am not someone who now plays football for money. That is something that comes later. The most important thing for me is my development.
“I have to be better and I want to achieve the highest possible level.
“At the end of my career, I want to say that I have made the most of it, but as I said before, the rating can be better for someone who has played so many matches,” he said.
