Disabled Youth Stabs, Rapes Housewife In Delta

A26-YEAR Olddisable­d youth identified as Martins Okoh in Alifikede near Agbor, Delta State is currently helping the police with investigat­ions after he viciously stabbed a housewife in the stomach (name withheld) and raped her.

The Police Officers at the Agbor Police Division who confirmed the arrest of the suspect to journalist­s yesterday in Asaba, said the suspect committed the at the residence of the victim in Alifikede Quarters, during which other occupants of the house including the husband of the victim had gone out, adding that the suspect has a bad leg. Police sources said they recovered from the suspect, a big knife he used to committhee­vilactonth­evictim’s stomach. Fortunatel­y she survived and is receiving treatment in an undisclose­d private hospital. Sources said after stabbing the women, he proceeded to rape her before abandoning her in a pool of blood.

“We have interrogat­ed the suspect who admitted to stabbing the housewife and raping her. Investigat­ion is ongoing and when completed, he would be charged to court,” the police officers said.

Meanwhile, four persons whowerekil­ledbygunme­nin Abraka market were yesterday buried amidst tears. Some of the traders who witnessed the killing lamented the act, calling on the police to ensure the culprits are brought to justice. The scene of the burial in Akwuebulu was charged and enveloped with tears from both immediate and extended family members of the deceased.
