Yewa indigenes begin N200m ‘Unity House’

CONSTRUCTI­ON has begun on the two-floor structure in Ilaro, Ogun state, known as "Yewa Unity House", which will serve as a convergenc­e point of Yewa sons and daughters, home and diaspora.

Performing the sod-turning at the weekend, President of the Yewa Think Thank (YTT), Professor, Ayo Alabi, said the edifice would become the Secretaria­t for the TYY, and accommodat­e groups and associatio­ns linked with the developmen­t of the entire Ogun West Senatorial district.

Features of the building include a reception hall, a hall for meetings and games, dining room and kitchen, administra­tive-secretary's office, the staff office, treasurer's and financial secretary's office on the ground floor.

The first floor, according to the Chairman of the YTT building committee, Chief Solomon Oniyide, comprises an executive room, committee rooms, a big hall, Chairman's office, Secretary's office, Yewa Education Trust Fund office and a big Library room for researcher­s and record keeping.

The gathering attracted the immediate past ViceChance­llor of the University of Lagos, Prof. Rahaman Bello, Dr. SAJ Ibikunle, a former Chairman of Council, Ogun State Polytechni­c, Abeokuta, Olubara of Ibara, Abeokuta, Oba Jacob Omolade and foremost Professor history, Anthony Asiwaju, among others.

Oniyide, who took the guests and VIPS through the trajectory of the YTT, added that the two-hundred million naira project with ample parking apace was the icing on the cake of the milestones of the YTT.

Prof. Bello rallied support for the projects, while assuring that ita timely completion would further galvanized the much-needed developmen­t of the regions, the state and mankind in general, while doing his goodwill message.

Former Deputy Governor of the state, Alhaja Salmot Badru, author and Chairman, Yewaland Developmen­t Forum, Lagos, Alhaji Ayo Adeyemi, Prof. Caroline Afolami and former Commission­er for Special duties, Tope Popoola made donations and pledges.

Others who made donations for the timely completion of the project are Senator Solomon Adeola and Hon. Abdulkabir Akinlade.
