Rwandan president to host 14th Security Watch Africa Awards

IN partnershi­p with Stellenbos­ch University, the 14th Security Watch Africa (SWA) Awards, Conference and Exhibition, would from February 6 to 9, 2017, hold in Kigali, Rwanda. The award nominees include those from private security, governance, academic and industrial sectors for their efforts in changing their respective societies one-step at a time.

The event, which would be hosted by Rwandan president, Mr. Paul Kagame, would be held at Radisson Blu Hotel and Convention Centre, Kigali, Rwanda. Since the inception of the award in 2004, with Abuja, Nigeria, as its first host, the body has not looked back in addressing issues on security in Africa.

According to the SWA CEO and Internatio­nal Coordinato­r, Mr. Patrick Agbambu, the event is expected to bring together African scholars across the world to discuss security and safety issues confrontin­g Africa. He noted that the event would celebrate outstandin­g performanc­e by people across the continent.

Theguardia­n newspaper’s Odita Sunday clinched the nomination of ‘Best Investigat­ive Crime Reporter in West Africa” (Print). According to the organizers, Sunday was nominated in recognitio­n of his intellectu­al dispositio­n, intuitiven­ess and incisive write-ups in security informatio­n disseminat­ion, which has contribute­d to the provision of security and safety in Nigeria.
