- By Melody Fidelis

THE Lions Club has reiterated its goal of serving humanity by attending to the challenges facing communities in the world. This was made known by the District Governor, 404-A1 Nigeria, Olatunbosun Okpeseyi, who said the club has sponsored cataract surgeries for 100 patients, screened over 300 patients for diabetes and had given more than 250 free eyeglasses to people with poor sight.

While speaking at the just concluded 4th District Convention ‘OGA 2018’ held in Ikorodu, Lagos, Okpeseyi called on well-meaning Nigerians to help solve societal problems within their domain, as the little drops will go a long way in making lives better for citizens across the country.

“This year’s theme is ‘New Partnership in Service’ which means media houses, corporate bodies, community leaders and everybody need to partner with humanitarian bodies as we cannot do all this alone,” he said while warning that if the poor are neglected, their discomfort will have a way of affecting the comfort of the rich who are in the same society.

Chairperson of the convention, Niyi Balogun, claimed that the club is not only for the rich but anyone who can afford three-square meal in a day. He informed that the club has been able to raise over N100 million towards the building of a dialysis center at Lagos University Teaching hospital (LUTH).
