SEVENTEEN-YEAR-OLD Monday Utah has hacked his younger brother, Ndubuisi, aged 10 in cold blood in Ebonyi State. Confirming the incident yesterday in Abakaliki, police spokesperson, ASP Loveth Idaho, said the incident took place on January 21 at Umuegara community of Ezzamgbo in Ohaukwu Local Council.

According to Idaho, the boys’ father reported the incident. He said Mr. Utah had on the fateful day sent his children to fetch grass to feed goats but around 3p.m. Monday returned without his brother.

He reported that he asked Monday about the whereabouts of his sibling and he was told the boy was still cutting grasses for the goat. But not comfortable with the response, Utah went to the bush to look for his son only to see Ndubuisi’s mutilated body with machete cuts. On returning home, Monday had fled.

The police spokesperson confirmed that the suspect is still at large but gave the assurance that the police will get him no matter where he runs to.

A source told Theguardian that Monday had trailed his brother to the bush where he held him and cut off his two hands. According to the source, Monday on discovering that his brother was dead, took his dead body and was squeezing it into a hole when a passerby saw him and raised the alarm, which led to his arrest by the villagers before he fled the scene and ran home.

Meanwhile, a mobile-policeman at a checkpoint in Pai, Munya local government area of Niger State has shot a man on his leg for interfering in a bribery of N50.

According to the member representing Munya Constituency at Niger State House of Assembly, John Paul Bahago, the policeman had demanded a bribe of N50 from a farmer who was on his motorcycle but the farmer refused to give him. He said the refusal to give the N50 bribe led to a quarrel while another villager tried to intervene in the matter.

Bahago said after the matter was resolved and the farmer had left, the policeman went to the house of the villager who interfered and shot him on the leg.
